I am considering treating some of the bare cast/steel suspension and drive train items with a gray(zinc) phosphate solution. I intend to drive the car but would like to have it judged ocasionally. Parts that I have bead blasted, placed in zip lock bags and put in cold storage have rusted so I know I will have to do something to prevent rust. I also think the bead blasted parts are too "white". I am skeptical about clear coating and spraying with products like Prelube 6. So I have come to the point of considering a gray phosphate treatment for items such as the steering knuckles and differential case. I have tried this on some items such as the manual transmission linkage rods.
