Re: Apparently, the seller boasted that he did the

really dumb question, but could you get PS on a 1967 L71 ? IF not, then wouldn't this be an easy spot as a made up car? And then the repro tank sticker (listing the N40 option) offered as proof of authenticity would be outed, etc. . . . .

      N40 was avail. on L78 ('65), L72(L'66) & L71('67)

as well as on all hydraulic cam versions L36 ('66 &'67) and L68 ('67).

Also, probably (can't see why not) on L89 in '67.

Perhaps some insight can be gained

by #802's teammate, lot 450.2, presented by SAME seller as a 1966 Black
/red CV, 425, 4spd, PB, PS, side exhaust, shoulder belts, matching #'s, frame off, etc. Start with the fact that Exclsuionary Code on the Trim #, excludes side exhaust; the driver's dash pad was Laguna Blue dyed red; the passenger dash pad was black dyed red; this was also an example of the thousands of 1966 425/450HP cars equipped with non-positratction
differential; the new owner discovered that the side windows did not go up and down because there were pieces missing; the car spent the next week at a Phoenix Corvette shop, resulting in a bill of $4900.
The sad part is that probably was NOT the worst Corvette at the auction.

Thanks for the welcomed education - must be my L76 ownership that compelled me to spot an N40 issue that wasn't there. I see now that only the 67 SBs differentiated via pad suffix for inclusion of PS / N40

            As quoted by Loren

"Start with the fact that Exclsuionary Code on the Trim #, excludes side exhaust"

Loren would you please explain what this means,

Go to the Appendixes in Noland's 2nd book

where he is setting out the Interior Numbers & letters on the trim tag; in some cases, the letter signify that certain options will not be placed on that car from the factory.

                    Re: BJ's response

Talked to Steve Cook, at BJ after seeing the info by Loren. They said that their job is to simply join sellers and buyers. BUT, They said that they will do an investigation of the situation and advise the buyer of the info.I forwarded him.
