    C1 Soft Tops

    Just a Question???

    Were Soft-tops for solid axle cars completely mounted on the frame before being installed on the car a the factory?

      The C1 soft tops were built up by an outside supplier on a "buck" that simulated a body with a windshield on it and were shipped to St. Louis as a complete assembly, ready to install on the Final Line.

          Why is it that someone does not sell them complete (restored) this same way today?

              I think because many Corvette have been taken apart or other body parts used, lids,windshields.and door post that the stander assy is changed from Factory and fit would be different in many cases.

                  Hi Dennis -
                  Coffmann Corvette does this. They did one for me but I haven't installed it yet, so I can't comment on the fit at this point.
