    66 Coupe Windshield Trim attachment

I'm having a great deal of trouble keeping the lower trim in the clips. Is there any secret to getting it to hold?

    Thanks,

    Brian

I don't believe there is any special method. The molding should tap down and grab the clip. I did have a problem when installing the lower molding on my 63. The clips I got from L I Corvette were not bent properly and would not work. My installer ended up cleaning up the old clips and using them.

Is your trim bent a little from removing or polishing. On my 65 the lower trim runs from the upper corner piece around to the center of the windshield. I had about 3 clips that weren't lined up properly with the stiffening rib. I had to move them over and up slightly. Once they were in better alignment the trim snapped in.

Thanks for your responses. It doesn't appear to be bent. The clips must be worn because it will catch & then later pop out. I don't suppose they can be replaced without windshield removal? You mentioned that you moved your clips? How did you do that? Drill new holes?

          Hi Brian:
Yes on both question's. I bought new clips from Paragon and took the car to my local glass shop. They removed the windshield and let me realign the clips. This was done by drilling new holes approx. 1/2 inch away from the old one's. You can get the size from the AIM. I also had a new gasket installed while the windshield was out. I recommend replacing all the clips as the old one's I had were pretty brittle and had lost their temper. The whole process only took about 2 hrs. including windshield removal and installation.
