Those 13 identical (?) '67 Shrine Corvettes

Bill Mock's article in the RESTORER, Vol 20 # 1, Summer 1993, shows his car as white on blue, no side exhaust. In the black-and-white photo of all 13 in a row, with their owners, at St.Louis plant delivery, the first car has N14.

Did all cars have blue interiors ? Anybody know how many had side exhaust ?

We sold all of the Shrine Corvettes and my Father was one of the members. We almost always ordered extra cars not all of which were in the Shrine color for that year. All of the cars that were to be prade cars were identical in color and interior etc. 67s were all white with blue interiors. Engines and trans and other extras that didn't show were up to the member. I would need to look up the 67s to see which car(s) had the side exhaust, I don't remember side exhausts on the "real" Shrine cars. By the way my Dads old car is still out there as an L88 now white with a red interior. It started life as a 350hp 4 speed car. As an example of what got ordered with the batch of Shrine cars, in 1969 I got a Silver with blue interior and black top, 400hp 427 as part of our order of Shrine cars as well as a customer got a yellow 435 car as part of the same order. That year the Shrine cars were Riverside Gold with saddle interior and black tops. Chevrolet pretty much let us order what we wanted. I still have paperwork on some of the late 60s Shrine cars. One of the 62s (maybe 61) showed up locally about five years ago. It was the cadillac Amethyst with red interior. It didn't get far with local chapter NCRS judging event...no paperwork but a nice looking car. Had been restored.

Those were 62s. Every year a different member was to pick out the color. The guy that picked the Cadillac color with the red interior was a guy by the name of Quay Fitch. He was a mortician. The guys gave him lots of grief about the color combo. When some of the guys traded their 62s in for the 63s, we had to paint them red 'cause nobody wanted a "purple" Corvette. I kinda liked them. Maybe because I took the best looking girl in high school to the prom in my dads 62. I know of 3 that are still out there and have been or are being restored back to the Cadillac color. GL

By chance do you have the paperwork on those 62s? The current owner here would probably love to connect with those few owners of 62s that are restoring them...would be a NCRS display.

In fact, he felt somewhat snubbed by his NCRS experience but I'm sure he would like to connect to the cars origins.

All I have for the 62s is our inventory book showing the cars, serial number, our stock number and the purchaser. Should have saved the invoices but hey I was 16 and NCRS was a long way into the future. The colors of the 60s was Buick Wedgewood blue with white coves. I have a friend that has had a 60 for probably 25 years or so. Maybe when we get done doing the Vintage race stuff with his 56 we can start on it. GL

There was a white/red L88 vert w/sidepipes at the Carlisle auction last year. I believe the guy was from Nebraska if I remember correctly. Could this be the same car?

Yes I believe that was my dads small block car. The car is a clone. GL
