C-3 Carpet Recommendation Please

I'm ready to order new carpet for my '70 vert but have not selected a source yet. I have seen from earlier postings that the major suppliers seem to be ACC, Romeo, Al Knoch, etc., but I would appreciate hearing about anyone's recent experience in installing any of these carpet kits pertaining to fit and finish of the carpet as well as quality of the material. Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Jim, my seat covers and carpet (80/20 loop) came from Al Knoch and as far as the carpet it is premolded with back padding, correct cuts, and has the correct heal pad. The seat covers are true Comfortweave mounted on new foams. Looks and feels great.

I would not recomend ACC. I bought a set from Ecklers, the fit was terible.The back around the wheel wells doesn't fit corectly no matter what I try. The piece for the bulkhead is not even close to being close.To me if a piece is hemed with webing it should be finished.Not acc you have to do a lot of triming and it still doesn't fit corectly. I would try Al if I were you.A corvette from 68-82 should be pretty basic. You would not believe how far off this carpet set was!

I was fortunate that the people at Willcox Corvette Department (see Corvette Trader) steered me in the right direction. Great folks there. Another stroke of fortune is that my carpet was ordered by someone else and then changed their minds about the color of their interior so I got the new Al Knoch carpet for a third the cost plus no shipping cost and no tax. I have the 1970 green interior.

I spoke to someone with AK at the NCRS Florida show in January about carpet for a 73. I asked if the heel pad was correct and was told no but they were retooling their dies for a correct heel pad that should be ready "in a couple of months". I don't know how much different if at all the heel pad is for your year. I would ask them about the heel pad before I ordered however as this is a judging checkpoint. As far as fit/color match I have found AK has this down pat at least in the blues and saddles.

I ordered a set for my 69 from romeo engineering, I have used Ak and ACC and romeo was highly reccommended so I will keep you posted it has shipped and I should have it in a few days
