    Original Floor Mats

Does anyone have a contact for locating ORIGINAL clear floor mats for 1967.

Any help would be appreciated. Joe

    Re: Original Floor Mats

    Joe,
If you want them for judging they did not come with the car. If you want then for driving I found a nice yellowed set of originals on Ebay, paid less than repo. Haven't seen a original set that was still clear though.

      Kevin,

I was under the impression that clear floor mats came as original equipment on mid years. Were they "dealer installed"?

Yes, no floor mats came with the car, but that's just what I know. Every judging event I've been too the cars have been judged without mats so I went without mats and they were not deducted. Missed you at the Peterson did meet Duke and Justin, I'm writing about the meet right now will post later.

kevin is correct. c-2's weren't shipped from st louis with floor mats. dealer installed or over the counter. be aware that original dealer installed are much stiffer than the current repos. originals, by now, have taken on a slight yellow color whereas the repo's i've seen are 100% clear.the originals show up at carlisle on occassion and are usually reasonable. mike

Joe,I have a pair that were taken from a two owner '65 that I had several years ago and for some reason I kept them. What I don't know is if they are original OEM or if the '65 were different from the 67's. Someone recently mentioned on this board that there is a way to detect the OEM's from GM or other replacements. There was something about the lower border that had a stamp on the originals or something like that. I would need to check if someone can tell me what I should look for. They are in very nice shape except that they are yellowed as mentioned. They are still very pliable and useable. Anyway, if you are interested in pursuing let me through my private email.

Not a great picture and they look better in person but this is an origianl set.

Like mine , just not so orange and they were an accessory , a real No NO in NCRS.

Thanks for the responses. I always understood them to be an accessory. In fact, mats are not even listed in the judging manual. However, I thought it would be a nice addition to my otherwise largely-original specimen! I have seen them with the GE part number stamped in them. Any idea where that stamp would be located?

                    Joe,

The only stamp on mine was on the back about in the middle, driver side
RMP 1713... Passenger side RMP 1714...
And there not that orange in person. I found no other stamps at first glance hope this helps.

                    Kevin

of course now that I found them I'll take a picture and post it later.

                      Joe,

The stamp was at the bottom in the middle on the back.
