1969 stats

First, I have a 1969 rooster with matching numbers that I brought back to show room quality (bottomless money pit), but I now have a lot of questions.

How can I find out some facts:

1. How many 69 convertibles corvettes were made with my configuration.

a. 350 ci, 350 hp, engine code (HX)

b. four speed transmission.

c. red exterior with black interior.

2. When rebuilding my engine I found that it has all the internal parts of a LT1 less solid lifters.(the internal part numbers match for a 69) The books say that the LT1 did not come out until 1970. I am guessing it was just not labeled LT1 until 1970. How can I find out?

Don -

Nobody kept track of the volumes for all the possible combinations of options/colors/trim; the quantities of each that were produced are shown in the NCRS Pocket Spec Guide, and you have to extrapolate from there to come up with a rough estimate.

You have a hydraulic-lifter L-46; the solid-lifter LT-1 was introduced in 1970.

The 1969 L-46 and the 1970 LT-1 were the same except for 4 major items:

1) L-46 used Rochester 4MV Carb; LT-1 used Holley carb

2) L-46 used cast iron, medium rise intake; LT-1 used aluminum, high rise

3) L-46 used hydraulic lifter, GM #3896962 camshaft; LT-1 used solid lifter, GM #3972178 camshaft

4) L-46 used point type, GM #1111493 distributor or, optionally, GM #1111491 TI distributor; LT-1 used TI distributor GM #1111491 only.
