C2 L79 Intake

I have just gotten a replacement 3890490 intake for my L79. I have not removed the old on but on the replacement, I noticed a metal plate on the drivers side. From what I can see of the old one that is still installed, it does not have this plate. Doe this look familiar to anyone based on the picture here?

I looks like a restrictor that comes in gasket sets for the heat crossover passage under the carb. I believe these things first appeared about '70-'71. Your car didn't originally have one.

Looks like a remnant from a FelPro-like heat passage block plate that comes with the intake gasket set.

YOu'll actually want to block these heat passages off with a blanking plate instead of a restrictor to prevent damage warping of the holley baseplate. Several postings of this in the archives by Clem.
