LT5 Parts

I have just bought a 1991 ZR1. I have read in an article that a lot of engine parts are already obsolete (or are on the way to be). It is written that most of the LT5 enthusiasts are going to stock rare engine parts. My question to the LT5 experts out there: Is this true? What parts should I stock? Where would I get them?

definitly get a couple sets of plug wires if they're still available. i've been building a LT5 powered stret rod and have a couple of sources for used engine parts if you need any. mike

Most of the major engine parts are still available from GM for the LT-5 engine. The cylinder blocks and pistons are NOT available, but most other major parts are.

cylinder heads (require 2)= about $6,000 GM list, each

camshafts (require 4)= about 1,000 GM list, each

connecting rods (require = about $600 GM list/each

crankshaft= about $4,000 GM list

piston ring kit (require = GM list about 200/each

So, you can go right down to your local GM dealer and order-up these parts. Then, you'll have them if you ever need them.
