For those of you in Texas it appears it is time for us to go to work. If you were unaware, Texas is proposing to implement the California Low Emission Vehicle (California LEV) program in the state of Texas beginning with the model year 2004, AND they are looking at implementing a Vehicle Scrappage Program.
It is now time to e-mail the governor and your legislators to let them know your opinions about these programs. You can leave an electronic message for the governor at: http://www.governor.state.tx.us/e-mail.html
To contact your legislators, see http://www.house.state.tx.us/house/member.htm for the House and http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Senate/Members.htm for the Senate.
For complete details on the proposals, check out the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission web site: http://www.tnrcc.state.tx.us/oprd/991216.html and scroll down to "DFW Voluntary Motor Vehicle Scrappage" Rule 1999-055F-114-AI and "California Low Emission Vehicle Rule" Rule 1999-055K-114-AI.
They are currently holding hearing on the Scrappage program and we are a little late there as the hearings started 1/24. If you can attend any in the future they are:

We are suppose to live in a democratic system, lets see how well it works and if it will respond to the little person.
