Anyone know where I may find a Waterpump #3782609 for my 62 340hp car?

Thanks, but I have already talked to Bill and he does not have one. Any other ideas?

Vette Products--Lake Orion, MI, has good repros--almost undetectable when mounted on the car.

What's a "good repro"? I'm not familar with this part. But I thought it was identified by the 3782609 number cast into it. Does the repro have this number cast into it?

Yes--has the 3782609 cast in it--but slightly different configuration of the numbers--original were in a bit of an arc--the repros are pretty much in a straight line. Otherwise seem to be undetectable.

Is the repro a new housing? Or, has someone figured out how to get numbers applied to a housing core that look like they've been cast in. I don't know how to get numbers cast into metal unless they're cast into the metal when the molten metal is poured.

My problem here is that I'm having difficulty understanding the economics of somebody commissioning a casting house to cast new housings. Wouldn't think there'd be enough demand for a 44 year old one year only application.

Chris, Try the Pirckle's... See if...

they are still supplying original, rebuilt H2O pumps. I've really never had a big problem getting a '62 pump. Can't believe the supply has "dried up" in a short period of time. Best, Dennis

One of these professionally rebuilt 3782609 pumps shows up fairly regularly on Ebay. The sellers ID is Restorationautoparts. he usually lists them for $150 with a " Buy It Now " price of $125.

There are many "generic" castings out there that are in current production which are virtually identical to the '609' except for "numbers". So, the patterns already exist. If some restoration source were to order a run of these castings, I don't think that it would be too difficult for the foundry to add the casting numbers to the existing pattern for that run.

The application of this number to a casting without a GM license is illegal, though. As applied to a waterpump casting, the casting number is a GM trademark and copyright. It could be done under the GM Restoration Parts program without any legal issues, though.
