1968 thru 1972 stereo radios

I have a 1970 corvette missing the factory stereo radio U79. I have come across 1968 setups and 1971 setups. Can anyone tell me what the differences are from the 1970 units? Thanks Dave

There are no differences. The 68-71 Corvette U-79 stereo radios were identical.

I was told that the "stereo" script in the right upper corner of the dial face was different in 68 compared to later cars. Terry

That's possible. However, functionally the radios are identical. In fact, they all have the same GM part number. So, if any change in the script occurred, it was as a revision to the original specs. All 1968-71 have the "green" script on the drum and the lens.

I heard the 68 radio had slanted script "stereo" and the 69 and later was roman type print (straight up and down print). They are probably the same otherwise. Interesting little facts. Thanks, Terry
