I'm thinking of buying a lock for the spare on my '74. Does the spare tire lock just keep the bolt from being turned or does it also prevent the bolt from slipping out of the lower tub? Thanks, Bill

Re: C3 Spare Tire Lock
When you shop for a spare tire lock remember, in the era of your car all locks were keyway encoded (A/B, C/D, Etc.) and the 'test' of a correct Shark lock is that it will accept the correct keyway coded key blank and 'reject' other coded keyways (won't insert more than 3/4-way into the lock cylinder). Some of the locks out there are potporri coded (random draw from what the supplier has on the shelf) and others are 'universally' coded (will accept any key).
So, if you're out to buy a 'correct' spare tire lock for your '74, you'd like it to match the existing 'K' keyway of your original glove box key....- Top
