    Muncie question

If I have a muncie 4-speed with a date code of P7P15 would that mean September 15, 1966? Does the 7 mean it was for a 67 car. There is no VIN on it. Would this be correct for a car that was built January 25, 1967?

Yes, the "7" in the transmission code would indicate that this trans was built for the 1967 model year on September 15, 1966. The lack of the VIN derivative likely means that it was originally a SERVICE transmission built for the 1967 model year, although it's possible that some PRODUCTION cars were built without VIN derivative stampings. It's really an academic point, though.

Under current NCRS/NCCB judging standards, I think this transmission would be considered correctly dated for a 1967 built on January 25, 1967.

      Jeremy,
It might be there, but you have to look closely because it's quite faint. I have a P7?12 date for my Dec 19 1966 built 67 coupe. Here's my vin stamping.
