I'm putting dust shields on my 1963. It is very differcult to get these steel staples to close on to the skirt. Is there a special tool? Is there any tricks of the trade? any help would be appreciated.

I assume you have drilled the holes thru the new dust shield using the holes in the fender as a guide. (Use a very small drill bit) Insert the new staple thru the dust shield and fender. Use a needle nose pliers to bend the staple leg around the needle nose. This gives you the "curve" in the staple leg. Do one staple at a time... drilling etc., so that you can keep everything straight. As mentioned earlier, you'll probably need a little help- Top

The part number for the "staple" is actually the number for a sizable spool of 14-ga. or 16-ga. galvanized steel wire that was mounted on a BIG Bostitch air-powered stapler that was hung from an overhead balancer; that sucker would staple anything (same device was used in the car and truck plants that stapled through steel inner fenders).- Top
