re 'to ' spare tire tub rolf krueger from to about the mid 's the factory installed spare tire tub was the black laid up fiberglass constuction part which had one rough side a corvette would have had this type of spare tire tub when it left the factory from about the mid 's time period the factory installed spare tire tub was the light gray sheet molded compound part which was smooth on both sides the specific time period where this change occurred is not well documented and may not have been at the start of a model year
