    65 jack compartment damage

I have my body off doing a body off restoration. I would like to know of any solutions to repairing and/or replacing the jack comparments and center tunnel on my 65 roadster. Apparently the 1/2 shafts had came off and done considerable damage to back of both sides of the compartments and the tunnel. The repairs that were done at the time were very bad. Does any company sell replacement fiberglass pieces? Or is the only solution to find good ones from a car being parted out? I would appreciate any suggestions or possible solutions.

Anyway you look at it, my take is you're between a rock and a hard place. The area of the undercarriage was NOT painted, undercoated, Etc. Folks expect to see bare original fiberglass. You've got two alternatives in my book:

    (1) Find a '65 junker (not hard), cut and patch. Plus = you've got

fresh/clean glass. Minus = you've got detectable bond lines where

    you splice 'er....

    (2) Leave 'er as is and clean up the best you can. Plus = you've

retained the maximum content of your factory original car. Minus =

she'll wear 'battle scars' for the balance of 'er life....

Pete, I could see you making the repair using a donor car section. As pointed out in other post,a lot of work. Cuts could be made to fall behind the main frame rails and at the two cross weld members to "hide" the cut in. The piece would encompass more than just the damaged wells. Apiece about 38"x 24", I am guessing. I assume you are looking for the originality look once completed. Cuts must fit like a glove since this is a bare fiberglass surface on the bottom. Some repair work on the inside would not pose as much a problem since carpet is layed down. Good luck.
