    4spd shifter rebuild '70

I am rebuilding the shifter on my 1970 4 speed. I have been disassemblying and cleaning the parts and noticed a slotted screw that screws into the shifter housing that holds the levers from the shifter. The problem is that I cannot take out this screw, part of it appears welded to the metal. I am able to take the shifter apart because the screw just appears to screw into the side of the metal and not touch anything.

The chasis manual diagram shows this screw as removable.

What is this screw for? Do I need to replace it, fix it so it can serve its function etc?

    Thanks
    Kurt

I believe that screw is what the reverse lockout rod bumps against until the trigger is lifted. No adjustment or change is necessary.
