Hi all. I suspect this might be a silly question but I have been unable to find an answer. I am assembling a 58 from a basket of parts and have just assembled the oil line that feeds the tach/pump gears on the distributor. There seems to be a brass Tee between the crankcase and the oil feed line that goes to the distributor gear box. One end connects to the crankcase, the other to the oil feed line. What hooks up to the thrid opening of this tee? All photos I have found shows this open but it looks like it is there for a reason. Photos of the installed engine always have the shielding. Thanks for the help.

Ken, There are no silly questions...
...the tee gets its oil from the engine block rear oil port. The other two outlets from the tee feed the FI distributor and the engine oil pressure gauge. If I recall correctly, the top port feeds the distributor and the horitontal port feeds the gauge. Best, Dennis- Top

Re: 58 FI distributor oil lines
The respnse that Dennis gave is the correct configuration---I've seen MANY others on cars, including cars we've judged--but he outline the correct way.
Your AIM should indicate that as well.- Top
