    509 M/C cap?

I have found 2 master cylinder caps. They have the information on the domes. They read "SERVICE WITH DELCO PARTS" on one dome and on the other dome it say's "USE DELCO BRAKE FLUID". The other cap say's "SERVICE WITH DELCO PARTS" on one dome and USE DELCO SAE J1703 BRAKE FLUID" on the other dome. Which is correct for a C-2 with out power brake and what do they fit? Thank you Dale

My friend called this A.M. and has found 2 more with the SAE J1703. Dale

The first cover "Service with Delco Parts" + "Use Delco Brake Fluid" is what's called out for '67. You should find the definition clearly spelled out in your copy of the Judging Guide! The other covers with "SAE J1703" reference are from a later time period (early Shark era)....

I believe the cap with J1703 started appearing in mid 1969 across the GM car lines that employed this master cylinder.

"J1703" caps are fairly easy to find...don't pay any big bucks for them....

Re: 509 M/C cap? Correct Finish

              Jack,

What's the correct finish for Dale's 67 M/C cap. Would it be a bright yellow cad finish with perhaps some red tones or a dull yellow cad, bronze-like finish?
What would be more correst from a judging stand point.

I may be doing a replate project on Dale's cap and can do either.

Steve, I did not pay anything for them. I sure do appreciate your filling me in on their value though. Jerry, check your email. Dale

Re: 509 M/C cap? Correct Finish

It's a dichromate finish (rainbow under gold) sometimes called gold irradite. The exact hue did vary from part to part in lock-step with the supplier's plating chemistry cycle....
