    Utah 05, Corvettes 1955?

I heard 15 old jalopies and I'm one that will be there are coming so fare. How many will be judged I don't know, but I parked out side . I have to many sinful accessories in her and I "drive" it pulling a trailer as always.
I Can imagine her being in side with a bubble top , mud flaps, wire wheels plus many accessories as judges at a national meet shake their heads. "First time" just for fun at $50.00 it's being judged in Ca. next month at Berkeley, plus I put on a Tec Session. But $210.00 in Park City National , I don't think so!

It don't really matter to me weather she gets a NO flight award, and I still support NCRS.

Roy - Quit your soap box belly aching...

...you get $100 of the judging fee refunded, which cuts it about in half - or close to just twice what your chapter meet fee is. You seem to be determined to prejudge your car while you moan and groan about your perception of the outcome. Give it a rest - sign up for judging, have it judged, then maybe you'll have a legitimate platform from which to continue your tirade about NCRS Judging Standards you don't agree with. Later, Dude...

Dennis it may sound like I'm moaning and groaning, but trying to make a point that entering my Corvette would be like entering a F-100 Ford pick up at a national meet. A Regional is more of a low key , local fun event , most people know you . As I said it would be fun , un-like the higher stander of judging in a national meet. As you know I've been judging almost from the start of NCRS , I'm #182 and know how many ( not all ) judges brain sells work. It dont even bother me to use my 55 as an example of what not to do to a %100 original Corvette and be willing to show it.
You've been there , done that, your one of the old guys, loved and hated over the years like many of us. I appreciate and like you for who you are not what you drive.

                    Consider...

the milage driven credit you're going to get and go figure you'll stand JUST AS TALL in the awards ceremony as the other Top Flight recepients who trailered their cars to the meet, Roy... Why drive the car all that way and not put 'er on the Judging Field for others to see/admire? Even with the myraid of dealer installed/after-market 'features' you've got, my hunch is your car ought to fare very well!

                      Re: Consider...

                      I'd agree.

Even though I can't make it this year, it'd be fun to see how the judges handle Roy's, ah, additions.

Hi Roy, got some interesting news.

I'm looking at an article from the DEC/JAN 1973 CORVETTE NEWS called THE CLASSICS:REVISITED and I found your bubble top on a 54 vette, and theirs a little story here. Should I go on? I should! Don't twist my arm.

Sid Diamond and his wife, Phillis were, or are from Chicago and they owned this unique 1954 with the bubble top. He purchased the top from another club member (The Classic Corvette Club'53-55)

The original bubble top was not made by Bell Helicopter.

The real manufacturer,William Chaffee, President of Model Builders Inc. of Chicago,

The top was built originally for Gene Kettering who was involved with the corvette in the early years. he wanted one for his own personal car. The top was produced for Kettering at a cost of $5,000. Twenty more were built to offset the cost of the original and they were sold by Model Builders for $350 apiece. They installed the tops on the cars and shipped them back to the owners. Their top was traced back to the original owner who was the governor of Illinois at the time--Governor Green. They tracked down the twenty people who owned the tops and talked to those who were still alive at the time. The President of U.S. Steel had one and so did the Chairman of the Board of Royal Crown Cola.

The meet was held at the Howard Johnson's East parking lot in Flint, Michigan and this beautiful 54' won 3rd in the Primary Class (those who have never placed before or have never shown their cars).

Just think how rare that top is now? You lucky guy.

                        Ken.

Yes I have that issue and most of Corvette news's mag's, only two months ago I talked to the same owner in the magazine, he still has the 54 and bubble top. I was amazed and he was that I have one and repro them. Thanks ROY
