    Spring Knoxville 2005

I noticed the map of the facility shows an area devoted to NCRS. Is there a local NCRS event being held in conjunction with this show?

PS Any one know of any museums or historical sites in this area?

Geoffrey, the SouthEast Chapter of NCRS has an event scheduled next fall at the Expo. It is upstairs in the Jacobs building. Unless Bryon has set aside a parking space for NCRS members I am not aware of anything else this spring.

Smurf Dude - No NCRS event planned that I know of. I wonder if that map is left over from last fall? What's the name of thet Muscle Car Museum down in Sevierville that Doc may find interesting? Also, when is the Bristol NASCAR race? I-81 and I-40 traffic gets pretty hectic sometimes. Later...Dick

El Dicko, the museum is Floyd Garrett's. Bristol race is same weekend as Expo, but should not be a traffic problem.

If you visit the area you might want to check out "THE TAIL OF THE DRAGON"

It is US 129 south of Knoxville. The is a mountain road that has 318 turns in 11 miles. Beautiful drive, did it last fall in the red car and now want to go back in the black car.

Bikers love it. It is starting to get more sport car play.

There is some info on the road at tailofthedragon.com

Drove the tail in a Buick Century rental car and..

had a blast. Aired the tires to 40 psi before driving it and still had the tires rolling of the rims. You really have to watch for oncoming traffic as I met more than one car that was using more than their side of the road. Another good drive in that area is the Cherohala Skyway. Smokey Mountain National Park has a lot of great touring roads. Wish that area was closer to home.

Guys, anyone going to the Knoxville Expo must go to Floyd Garrett's Museum in Sevierville. It is just north of Knoxville off of I-81 North. It is a must see!!! I thought I had died and gone to Musclecar heaven. Having married an East Tennessee girl from Kingsport, I lived there for 7 years and loved the Smoky Mountains. Cades Cove is a great Saturday morning experience. The Blue Ridge Parkway is also a must see. A good place to pick it up is near Asheville, NC about 1-1/2 hours from Knoxville on I-40 East. I'm envious as I don't get to go back up there until the fall this year. I'm hoping to make the Expo at that time.

Down the road a ways from Knoxville at Chattanooga,TN they have a aquarium that is supposed to be really nice. Short drive west from Knoxville to Nashville I believe there is a person that owns a motel/hotel facility that has the largest collection of Yenko Camaro cars that can be viewed. Then just about 65 miles north of Nashville you can go watch them build the C6 in Bowling Green and visit the Corvette Museum. Another big event in TN is at a small town named Columbia south of Nashville. This is all about mules. If anyone thinks Corvettes are expensive, big money also applies to some of the these mules.
