    62 wheel cylinders

Would someone respond back with the correct casting numbers for the Delco Moraine wheel cylinders front and rears. Currently I have numbers 5450649 and 5450648, I believe that they are the rear ones. I also have some big brake 5453822 and 5453821 ones that are the fronts. Would there be a problem in using the heavey duty with the standard ones?
    Thank you,

    Re: 62 wheel cylinders

I don't know about casting numbers, but the original front wheel cylinders were 1-3/8", vs the 1-1/8" "heavy duty" cylinders. The latter is widely sold as a replacement, since the 1-3/8" cylinders are in short supply. I have seen correct replacement cylinders on ebay once in a while, and bought a spare set for my 62 at a very reasonable price. These weren't Delco cylinders, but were made by a reputable US manufacturer. I am sure the 1-1/8" cylinders will stop the car, but I believe pedal effort may be increased a bit. If the car were ment to have 1-1/8" front cylinders, GM would have built them that way to start with. You should be able to find some NORS cylinders, or else find some discarded originals that can be rebuilt. The 1-3/8" kits can be had a virtually any auto parts store, though the used cylinders might have to be sleeved.
