Recently purchased some plastic chrome vent balls from a well known parts supplier to replace those that have worn chrome. Noticed that those I received have a line around the circumfrence chrome area as if the 2 sides were mold bonded. This is different then the originals that are on the car now. The chrome areas are smooth and seem perfectly round on the originals. Has anyone run into this before? I'm guessing what I purchased are not correct unless this is just a variation. Anyone know a source for correct ones?

Re: C-3 Vent Ball
Charles, I too just bought replacement vents for my '74 and they also have a mold line. I got mine from Corvette Central. The original ones in the car, like yours, do not have the mold line. Hopefully someone has some info on this. Bill- Top

Re: C-3 Vent Ball
So many GM products had this vent ball I'm wondering if GM still "produces" it. It may end up being one of those parts you just have to look for at a swap meet to see it before you buy it.- Top

Re: C-3 Vent Ball
FYI. When I replaced the round chrome vent balls on my '70 convertible, I found that the new replacements were slightly larger than the originals. Had to trim the felt (also new) to get them to fit. It wasn't the felt since they were tight with the old felt also. The size difference was not noticable until you try to assemble them. Think they came from Paragon.
Good luck.- Top
