    C1 hardtop resto

Does anyone sell a step by step videotape, book or cd tutorial on the "how-to" of hardtop restoration? I have seen posts touting the level of degree of difficulty of this project and don't think I want to tackle it without some sort of instruction better than that found in the aim. I need to replace all the plexiglass as well as restore the stainless and paint. Can the plexiglass be polished to remove all the scratches? If so, by what method and material? Thanks to allwho respond.

i hesitated tackling a hardtop for better than 30 years because of the rumor it was too difficult to tackle. humbug. did a 61 in a day. replaced all 3 pieces of plexiglass and the weatherstrips, polished the stainless and reassembled. just take your time and don't "force" things. ted and his son(they ad in driveline, out of pittsburg, pa) can supply any needed parts. go for it. mike

      Hi Don,

Corvette Central sells a hardtop window polish set (#101519) to get rid of all the scratches. Cost you appr. 4 till 6 hours to do the job right...

I don't know about a video but I found the restoration very do-able...

      greetings,
      Rob.

Years ago..I bought a plexiglass polishing system that consisted of several grades of very fine polishing cloth. It came in a small box along with a bottle of some type of lotion.

It was called Micromesh and was available at the local FBO airport..as it was used on cockpit plexi.

It was a time consuming project but worked well.
