    C2 door adjustmet

    All,

The passenger door on my 66 needs to be adjusted, pulled in towards the center line of the car. I would assume that to do this one would remove a door shim, but what if there are no shims there to remove? Is there another way to make that adjustment or is it as good as it's gonna get?

    thanks,
    Rob

Thats the only in out adjustment. If you are working on the body or have it stripped, you could do some matching work on the body.

        Thanks Wayne,

You confirmed what I already thought would be the case. I was hoping that there might be an easy trick that someone had to solve the problem.

          Rob,

If there are no more shims to remove and the leading edge of the door is still slightly outboard of the fender, there is one more trick that may save you from having to grind the panel. With all of the fasteners loose, try adding shims to just the two rear bolts. As you add shims to the rear locations, the hinge arm will pivot at the front two bolt locations and the door will come inboard. If this results in a decent fit, add exactly half the total amount of rear shim to the center two bolt locations. Example of the shim count would be zero on the front, 1/16" on the center and 1/8" on the rear. I know it's not factory but it may save you from having to do serious body work on the door.
