    C2 67 Tire Tub

On page 246 of M.F. DOBBINS 63-67 FACT BOOK (Dec 1981 edition) a photo shows the side of a tire tub with the part number stamped on it, as well as a date inside the tub.

The judging manual refers to the date stamp but not the part number. Should there be a part number stamped on the side of the tub?????

Along this line my "underhood" heater box had the part number stamped inside in white ink, obviously not visible when assembled. If that part had a stamp why not this one too.......

    Steve,

Someone was selling a repro(very nice quality) spare tire tub recently on ebay. Check it out, it was item#4536523939. He seems pretty knowledgeable about it, and claims that originals did not contain the part#. Check out the description on his listing.

I tried to look up the E-bay number... no luck.

        Steve,
My 67 tire tub had no numbers on the outside, it was heavily altered thanks to Bubba's undercoating. The inside, however, has a date stamp on the bottom Dec 16 1966, for my early-ish 67 coupe. My 67 non A/C heater box cover also has the numbers you mention in white ink, BA1-06 67B, then below that, P/N-3846352. Under the ink stamp is another set of numbers that are molded into the fiberglass, they are: p/n 3156854, then below that L, then below that N O R, then below that C. Here's my tire tub.

When you say "bottom" are you refering to the flat cover or the tub that hangs on the car?? I stamped mine in the tub hanging from the car.

            Steve,
The original stamp is on the bottom of the inside of the tub itself, which is bolted to the cross member upside-down. NOT the cover with the 'V' brace.
