C3 Carpet Padding Question

I just received my carpet and padding from AK for my '70 vert and have a question on the padding. I ordered the jute padding as I thought this was original, however, the original padding in the car is about half the thickness and has a rubber layer on the top where it contacts the carpet. AK sells a padding that they call heat and sound deadening for $160 vs the $26 for the jute. Has anyone had experience with either of these AK pads? I don't mind spending the extra $ if it will give better results. Comments or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Can't speak for a C3 but the C2 67 had similiar underlayment. The "heat and sound padding" is not the same as original. The original stuff will be described as such. I looked up some for you at Volunteer Vettes and for a C3 it sells for $259 while the heat barrier sells for $140. If you're looking for originality then the original stuff is the way to go......

I had the heat barrier stuff in my C2... it was still hot in the car on a summer day, no A/C!!!
