I'm looking at a '71 Corvette Coupe that has bird cage rust on the driver's side below the window. Is there a way to assess the damage without completely tearing the car apart? Can the bird cage be seen from below looking up under the dash? Will remving the dash pad reveal any of the cage? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance, Mark.

Re: Assessing bird cage rust???
Mark, you can remove the kick panel, pillar post trim and top dash pad and get somewhat of an idea of the damage in the bird cage. Remove the windshield interior header trim panel and get somewhat of a view of this are. The windshield frame damage is the easiest to repair. Getting into the hinge and lock pillars, or the rocker area to repair rust is somewhat of a major task.Dick Whittington- Top
