    c1 hood hinges

    does anyone know if the hood hinges on 57 that bolt to the radiator
    support should be black overspray or left unpainted, j.m. not to clear on that section thanks in advance.

    ...engine compartment black out process happened.

      Plate 'em, then paint 'em, the Judges will love it

      ....and don't forget to get them nicely plated before you overspray them. Cadmium followed by gold dichromate on the hinges and hood latches, both male and female. The support rod is silver cadmium only. It is my understanding the judges will look just underneath the receiver hood latches mounted underneath the firewall to see if there is a bit a natural fiberglass showing. Since there were installed prior to the underhood black out process there is no paint underneath and that is what the judges are looking for. The underside of your hood should not have distinct, carefully defined blackout lines vs color edges, as many restored cars do. These are the nuances of COrvette restoration. Of course, you may wish to do it otherwise.
