What is the original finish on the Positraction Metal Tag on the rear differential of my 63'? I'm being told natural, painted, or red dye.

Posi plastic(?) tag
Mine disappeared or disintegrated years ago, but to the best of my recollection is was red and made out of plastic. It resided between the filler plug and the carrier, but I don't think it acted a a sealing washer because I believe the plug threads are tapered. My AIM (Sect G81 sheet1 ) supports this recollection. The part number is 3825109.

Re: 1963 Posi Metal Tag
I believe that they are natural. They're perfectly round, unlike the triangular red plastic tags on later cars.. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: 1963 Posi Metal Tag Not round
Chuck and Dave (sounds like a part of a Beatles tune) are not totally correct. The tag is metal and looks very much like the 62 and earlier ones. The 63 is round but one side is cut straight as to fit into the space. (Picture the red plastic ones) Finish is original. Hope this helps! Phil #8063- Top

Re: 1963 Posi Metal Tag Not round
Phil is 100% correct. It isn't a perfect circle. One side is flat. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight
