    82 T-Tops

    Hi All,

I need a replacement T-top for my 82, as the pax side blew off today on the freeway! Besides broken glass, the frame was in about a dozen pieces, so repair is well out of the question. I see Paragon and MidAmerica has sets for sale at $1050, but does anyone know of a source for single tops? They are the silver mirror ones. Does Driveline have any index of adds? I realise e-Bay may have one at some time, but there is a Chapter meet coming up in a few weeks. I'm guessing correct date codes on the glass is not gonna happen in any case.

I have Hagerty Insurance, does anyone have any experience with a claim for broken tops with them???

    Thank you for your help.

I'd try Melrose T-Tops. They're probably the number one source for these tops. They buy "cores" (although, probably not what's left of yours) and rebuild them for re-sale. I don't have their contact information handy, but it shouldn't be too hard to come up with using a Google search.

I would not expect it to be inexpensive, though.

Used original T-Tops are pretty common items at the 'Vette boneyard' specialty shops. The ones that are opaque/painted are MUCH more common than the later era tops that were see-through. The archieves have many references to Corvette boneyard shops around the country you can call for prices, but out Denver local specialist in parting out Shark cars is Keith Beyersdorf at Corvelle Automotive (303) 777-2020....

        T-tops

Thanks for your help! It turns out that Melrose is 1/2 hour away, and are willing to sell me one top, not a set. The phone number there is 800 547 0075, I talked with Dave. Were very helpful, and I'm driving there tomorrow to hopefully pick one up. The approx cost for one is $450.00.

But it gets even better. Hagerty Insurance is willing to pay for it, no deductable. The nice lady on the phone was prepared to pay $1100 for a set. Easiest insurance company I ever heard from! She said Melrose could just invoice Hagerty! Painless!

Thanks to all here regarding insurance threads!
