    The End

No 'myth' and mis-information intended. Let me try to clear it up. The engine PREDATED the build date by more than the allowed 6mos., so your repair scenario wouldn't have applied to this car. The car may have been atypical of normal production but rules are rules, so this engine was disallowed and the stamp pad wasn't judged. However, it was carefully scrutinized and Al Greening even took a picture. He did ask for permission first. Further, the owner had no way to prove atypical production but all options were explained and the judges were sympathetic and helpful. It was explained that cars built with this engine option, during this time frame, usually had engine casting dates very close to the build date, out of hundreds observed and judged over the years.

The car was judged in 94/95. I don't remember the score but it was still close to a Top Flight, as I recall. Being a Trailer Queen, for the judging process, no points were awarded for driving it off the trailer and into the paddock area. The owner didn't have previous owner affidavits regarding engine history. He didn't dispute judging results but merely set about to correct his car as previously stated, since a Top Flight and Bloomington Gold were his goals. His seller made an adjusment of $10k because the buyer's order clearly stated this car was an original motor car and that was how he represented it to be. It was a gentlemen's agreement and no litigation was involved.

Eventually the car did receive both Gold and Top Flight, Gold came first. The owner sweated the NCRS judging more than Bloomington, even though some of the same folks were involved.

I was merely an observor in the whole process. I learned alot and had alot of fun. That's what it's all about.

My point was that this car MAY have had the original engine swapped out to qualify for Top Flight and Bloomington Gold.

      Question for Page ?

I try to ask this twice before but somehow it didn't post correctly.

Referring to body tag # S4544, are you saying this tag was listed for sale on EBAY a year ago? Do you track such Corvette parts sales data on EBAY? I would imagine over time you might have an interesting and potentially usefull database. I tryed to find out if the current car's owner in question listed it or actually bought it. No answer to the puzzle yet.

Re: BODY TRIM TAG WRONG, What would you do?

Has anyone seen A.G. Backeast's trim tag work? Wouldn't their repo tag pass visual (without magnification) muster?
