My carb apparently has an off idle (up to 1600rpm) problem, and I plan to temporairly swap it out with a "new" carb to confirm. Since it is only for a test, I am not too concerned with appearance, but I would like to minimidze the hook up problems. Would the Edlebrock Performer 1405,1406 be approprite and are there better choices? Thanks Les

Correction, I think.
If a Carter 3461 is a WCFB, then my answer doesn't make much sense.
I probably should have said "WCFB" in my first response instead of "AFB". Even so, I still don't know of any modern carb that will fit with the same bore spacing and bolt pattern. Sorry.- Top

Re: Correction, I think.
Jerry You were right the first time (about the AFB part). But based on my measurements the 3461S AFB bolt pattern is 4 1/4 between the front inner holes, by 5 5/8 deep. I believe this is the same spacing as the Edelbrock 1405, so it appears like it "should" fit. But.. the bore spacing is something I hadn't considered before. Thanks Les- Top
