C-3 Q-Jet Julian date

On C-3 Rochester QuadraJet carburetors there is a date code stamped on the body which is usually a four digit date code. I understand that is based on the Julian calendar. Correct? Does it start from January 1?

There are 4 numbers next to the part number. The first 3 are the Julian day of the year (January 1 begins as 001; December 31 is 365 unless a leap year). The 4th number is the last digit of the year it was produced.

Except for Carter-built Quadrajets that were used some years in the 70s...date stamp is two alphanumeric characters, e.g. "E0" or May, 1970. Just thought I would mention this to let you know that all Quadrajets do not have a Julian date code.
