    Original soft top color

Is there any way to verify what color soft top was originally installed on your car in 1965? My paint code is U-U and trim code is 407B. The car currently has a white soft top but I know it is a replacement. Either a white or black top would look good on a red car. Did the factory have a system for choosing top colors, for example all red/red cars received white tops but red/black interior cars received a black tops?
When flight judging cars, is this a factor?

    Not Really..........

The base car top color was black, white was a buyer's choice without additional charge.
The choice usually matched the interior black/black, either color with red interior. I prefer White. Cars are judged as presented, so, either color will be considered without penalty.

      Re: Original soft top color

      John,

Unless you happen to have some original documentation for your car, there's no way to determine which top color the car was delivered with when new.

As Michael Murray explained, if no color was ordered, the car would have been shipped with a black top but white or saddle could have been specified with any interior/exterior combination.
