    HOAT antifreeze brands?

My 67 is due a coolant change, and in reading posts it seems that using a HOAT product like Zerex G05 is recommended. Problem is, I can't find it anywhere. I have tried Autozone, Pepboys, O'Reilys, and Walmart. I could drive to the next town and try the Valvoline quick oil change shop, but I suspect that HOAT antifreeze is made by more than only one company? Is there a Prestone equivalent, or any other brand? What about Peak brand?

It seems that Zerex and Peak still make plain green coolant, so I suppose I could keep using it also right, with the 2 year change interval?

HOAT = Hybrid organic acid technology

Most of the local McParts stores carry Zerex G-05 in So. Cal., ask at the counter if you can order it.

Prestone makes a Dexcool compatible product, but I'm not sure if they offer a HOAT. Check their website. Zerex is a Valvoline product, so check there web site and e-mail them to find a local outlet.

I just saw Zerex G-05 in a Pep Boys store two days ago here in northern Califonia. So, the chain carries it. Your store may be "out". Pep Boys does a REAL poor job of maintaining shelf stock. You will often find MANY "holes" (i.e. out-of-stock product) on their shelves. Years ago when I was in college and working for Safeway Stores, I would have faced "serious repercussions" if the store manager found even a few holes at ANY TIME in my section. Pep Boys doesn't operate with that philosophy, at all. Sometimes there are more "holes" on their shelves than there is product available. I'd NEVER use Pep Boys for any serious auto parts/supplies buying, but I do "wander in there" from time-to-time.

NAPA is currently offering $3.00 a gallon off on Zerex right now. Trouble is, the NAPA stores I have been in do not have any in stock and don't expect to until the sale goes off.

I'd buy a bunch on a deal like that if I could just find it.

After searching parts stores in the St. Louis area and being unable to find Zerex G05, I located and purchased it at a Valvoline Instant Oil Change.
