1971 270hp w/ac

I have a neighbor that caught the restoration bug and I was helping him dismantle his 71 tonight. The alternator that we pulled off the engine was a 1100142 dated 1L7 63A. It doesn't sound like a Corvette alternator to me, but was wondering what it might be off of. The date itself might work, since the car was built in January of 71. Any thoughts

Let me correct myself, the date doesn't work.

I have the same year/engine/AC set up. Correct alternator is the 1100544, which is supposedly extremely hard to come by.

Yup.

Start looking now, and in 10 years you may have the right date.

A 544 of 72 and later vintage is easy to find. Not the 1971 MY, as it was Corvette-only.
