    63 body lift

I am very close to lifting the body on a 63-coupe restoration project and would like to use a two-post lift for raising the body. Has any one used a two-post lift for body removal on a C-2 and if so, what lifting points did you use?

    Thanks for any help!

    Re: 63 body lift

You are fortunate to have a lift like that.....

I would purchase 4 tie down 2" straps from Northern Hydraulics or similiar Co. that have the flat steel "U" shaped hooks. Then I would place those under the rocker molding hooking the "cage". You'll need to lift just inside the door opening to clear the "roll" of the fiberglass that is below the fenders. Raise the hoist to about 1 ft above the body. Attach the straps to the 4 lift arms by wrapping the straps around the arms and secure each with a "C" clamp. This will easily lift the body. The center of gravity of the body is about 6" behind the firewall so be careful that the body is not "front heavy". When you start the lift process check to see that some weight is on the rear lift straps. raise the body carefully watching the rear area so it doesn't hook the frame and then roll the chassi out from under the body. Set the Body on a rolling dolly and your in business.

I have a sketch of a rolling dolly that I'll send if you e-mail me along with some photos of it. Very inexpensive to build......

    Good Luck
