      Re: 67 Gas lid latch

The number I read with my cheater glasses in dim light was:

      38144041 30181-H
This was the number on my original. The spare one I have has the same number.

Hummm, at work, don't see it on the picture where is it located? I will check in the morning.

It's located under the hinge, on the lid.

              Question:

Why would the judge look at the screw...and not the casting number?

It's right near the pivot, you'll have to read

the numbers upside down, it it's on the car.

                  67 Gas lid picture, but

                  it's from the wrong side.

This was from my emblem painting experiment. Don't worry about the nail, it was a joke for John Hinckley. You can photo the inside screw at Golden Gate.

I thought about the Berkeley Inn, I think it's down near Spenger's (with perhaps more after hours events). But I opted for two nights at the Marina.

                    Kevin,

I sent you pictures this morning of my orig and repo.
The orig has casting number 38144041 30181-H
                    The repo just has 38144041

                    Mike

Mine also looks exactly like Kevin's (fully-threaded screw, same Fillister head), and appears equally aged/yellowed, with worn original paint on the lid.

Re: It's right near the pivot, you'll have to read

Yup, same casting number on mine, same hard-to-read location; the JG makes no mention of the threading or shank of the screw at all - maybe it should, to eliminate another "private knowledge secret deduction item".
