    Joe-----

I recognize one of them------George Barlos. Although I was never involved, at all, with the St. Louis Corvette plant, I met and became friends with George many years ago at Bloomington. George was a TRUE gentleman and HUGE asset to the Corvette community. Sadly, George passed away suddenly of a heart attack several years ago.

      Joe,

Jim Harding , Ray Barnes & Jerry Mathews: I can not put a face to them & they do not ring a bell right now. I must say however that Jim Harding and Ray Barns names do sound somewhat familiar. I honestly can not say that I remember their names.

George Barlos worked in what I refer to as the Reliability Department.

Fred Dudley worked in the Paint Department. I believe that his last assignment, that I remember, was General Supervisor of Paint Department.

One of the older Corvette Restorer had a front cover showing a 57 Corvette and many of the hourly employees that later went into supervision. Fred was one of those in the picture. I can not remember the issue right now but could look back through the issues if you wanted to see it.

Back in 1991..as part of a Route 66 caravan put together by Lucy Badenhoop of the then SACE..I helped arrange some activity at the closed St.Louis plant.

The SACE members received a brick from the building, a tour and a speech or two from Fred Dudley and maybe George Barlos.

Noland was there as well. Somewhere I have pictures and will post them in the future.

Ray Barnes started at the plant in 1963 as I recall and he ran the trim plate/code machine...as one of his assignments.

As I recall when the auction took place that trim plate stamping machine was auctioned off..and is probably still around.

Jerry Mathews painted the eyebrow on the 1969 ZL1 car.

I remember George Barlos - worked closely with him and with John Evans as we installed/debugged the new '68 assembly tooling; Phil Hawkins too.

            John

When I met John Evans, he told me that the producer/director of route 66 stayed at his house...during the shooting of an episode where a Corvette was driven off the cliff of a stone quarry in St.Louis. Rock Hill Quarry if I remember correctly.
