Re: Zerex G-05
I've been researching antifreeze for at least ten years. The latest industry consensus is that hybrid organic acid technology (HOAT) antifreeze is the best substitute for the inorganic green antifreeze that was OE in older cars, which is being phased out of prodution.
I previously supported the use of Dexcool in vintage Corvettes, but have changed to recommending G-05, which is a widely available HOAT blend.
If anyone wants to research this further, go to the Valvoline web site and find the page on Xerex G-05. There is a link to a very good article on antifreeze, which explains are the various "technologies" - IAT, OAT, and HOAT, and summarizes the latest industry thinking on the subject.
Note that all these antifreezes are ethylene glycol based. The various "technologies" refer to the corrosion inhibitor packages.
