What is the application for flywheel #3863643N? could be 3863648N
I believe the date is I28.

    Thank you,

If it's a 14" flywheel, I THINK that casting was used for many of the 1966-69 internally balanced flywheel applications (i.e. 350 cid and 427 cid as far as Corvettes go).

      Joe,

This flywheel is a very unusual configuration. It is much thinner than most, the back side is flat with only one small depressed area and drilled balancing holes.

It has a dual disk pressure plate, with both clutch disks.

Could this be an L88 fywheel/pressure plate assembly?

      Thank you,

      Verle

        1969 L88

The L88 engines used a 12 3/4" diameter 15# flywheel with a single disc clutch. The back side of this flywheel looks totally hollowed out. The MA6 cars used a 14" diameter 30# flywheel with the dual disc clutch. If it's a true dual disc setup, it's worth some$ (but I'm not sure why as nobody can see it).
        Good luck,
        Mark

The dual disc flywheels that I have seen have an "odd-ball" casting number. However, it's possible that there was another "regular" casting number, too. In any event, I don't think that any dual disc flywheel would have had a "3863643" casting number. If it were "3963643", that would be a distinct possibility, though.

No L-88 ever used a dual disc clutch set-up, though. As far as Corvettes go, the dual disc was limited to later 1969 with L-71 and the MA-6 clutch option and all 1971 Corvettes with LS-6 and 4 speed transmission.

The casting number was hard to read so it could have been 3963643N or 3963648N. It has dirt and some rust and I did not have means to clean it well.

It is definately different configuration from normal. It did have GM cast into it. The dual disk pressure plate and disks were with it but not bolted on. The bolt holds matched. It was a Borg and Beck style clutch.
