The original nuts for the bumper bolts fit a 5/8" wrench, as do the bolt heads. The nuts in the bumper bolt repro kits fit an 11/16". Although they have the same inside dimensions, thread and do fit, does anyone know a hardware store that carries the smaller, correct outside dimension nuts?

Re: 'C2 ORIGINAL BUMPER BOLT NUTS
SAE standards for 7/16"-14 fasteners call for a 5/8" hex head on the bolt and 11/16" hex on solid steel nuts; 7/16"-20 crimped insert locknuts have a 5/8" hex. This deviates from the matching bolt and nut hex sizes on 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", and 1/2" thread size fasteners, which are 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", and 3/4" respectively.- Top

If you post a part number or two from the A.I.M. for the nuts, maybe Joe can check prints for the original hex size. The SAE standard is the current one, may well have changed since the mid-60's, or those nuts were "specials".- Top

Rob,
I also bought the bumper bolt kits from Paragon and it was clear the nuts were incorrect. I bought the correct size nuts from Cordova Bolt in Buene Park, CA. You'll have to buy a box of 50, if I recall correctly, but they are spot on.
