Were sharp point, spiral flute, tacks ever used randomly (location wise) in the production installation of 57 carpet? Thank you.

trim screws my experience. haven't seen tacks/spiral nails.were your tacks located in the usual trim screw locations? mike -

Mike----Car had the usual trim screws at the correct places but in addition displays these tacks at various places with the point protruding perhaps 1/16 thru to the underside of the car. I am finding perhaps 8/10 0n each floorboard generally around the perimeter of the carpet as well as in the gas pedal area. A friend was visiting on Sat and asked unsolicited if I was seeing tacks in the floorpan---- duh. Said he had found tacks in his 56. The tack heads are so small that they bury themselves in the carpet and cannot be seen from the topside however the points do protrude slightly underneath the car. My guess is that tacks were driven in a trim shop sometime during the cars life but not sure. -- Regards, Joel MillerComment
