I just bought a set of #18633 80/20 floor mats with NON-SKID BACKING from Mid America for my 1969 coupe. The original carpet is still in the car and is in O.K. shape - not close to needing replacement. To prolong the carpet life I decided to buy the above floor mats - specifically because they have the advertised non-skid backing which is a "nibbed rubber backing. Well, guess what, they slide like they're greased!
The nibs just won't grab the carpet at all. Every time I get in and out of the car, they slip all the way forward. But, what's even worse is when driving, just moving my feet to the clutch/brake and back to the floor causes them to slide forward and "bunch up" behind the pedals!
I'm concerned from a safety standpoint that this could create a very bad situation. Any suggestions as to how I might anchor the mats yet be able to remove them for cleaning?
Thanks.......Jim
