This is my second attempt to get some feedback on this strange date code. 69 350/350 with a M34 where the date code should be. Any others out there? Let me know what you have found. Thanks.

Re: 69-350/350 Engine date code M34
M34 would "translate" as POSSIBLY Dec 3 of the year "4". However, the letter "I" is usually used in casting dates as I recall, so "L" is usually December. What is the casting # of the block? What is the info on the stamp pad? Others with access to more info might elaborate more. Hope this helps and stirs some interest!! Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: 69-350/350 Engine date code M34
Dave, I would to see it! Lots of casting dates are very hard to read. The numbers can be out of register. An 8 can look like a 3, an H like a K etc. I would shoot some well lit photo's of the area as well as the pad and casting number and send them to Chuck Berge, 68-72 team leader. Bob- Top

Re: 69-350/350 Engine date code M34
Dave,
You mentioned that the block date was stamped and not cast in place? Also, I'm sure you've already considered this but just need to ask anyway, is it possible that you're mis-reading the "M" instead of something like an "H". I agree with Chuck that the date would possibly signify something like a December date. Have you considered it to be a one-of-a-kind messed up letter-date from the foundry? TBarr #24014- Top

Re: 69-350/350 Engine date code M34
To all, Dave mentioned in his earlier post (the one no one responded to) that he had been in touch with me on this issue. I have a list of about a dozen examples of this anomaly including Dave's. His is the only 1969 that has surfaced.
One of the folks with this code (it is NOT a date) has been to Saginaw this last fall and has the answer in hand. With any kind of luck it will make the Summer Restorer. His first story about that trip is the closing of Flint engine. The next will be about the M codes.
Dave be patient.

Thanks, Terry, Nice to hear from you again. I first talked to you about this code at the North East conference in Ct. a few years ago. I will look forward to the write-up in the restorer this spring. Thanks a million for all your help. Dave Pisano,- Top
