Re: C2 - Seat Belt Dates "E" for Friday, NO!
There was a discussion on this board a while ago (perhaps in the last 18 months?) and we talked about the abundance of E coded seat belts. Doesn't the 70-72 JG specify that the E represents a day of the week and not a belt style? Is there a difference between the 66, 67, other belts that means that the definition of day of the week coding is not appropriate? IIRC, the Shark discussion involved some of the better informed interior judges. Most of the photos I have taken of 72s involve E coded belts.

Doubt that E means Friday
Highly unlikely, probably a car code. Are there any 66L/67 seat belts out there with an A,B,C or D date code on it. Maybe they only stamped on Friday or had one stamp with an E on it. (:

Re: C2 - Seat Belt Dates
I don't know about midyears, but I have seen all letters A through E when judging C3s (and even a few "Fs"). However, the majority of belts do have an "E," especiallly during the later shark years. I wonder if the company began coding all belts made during the week and not the day.- Top

Someone told me a long time ago that the letter in the belt date code identified the assembly line the supplier built them on (for traceability of an FMVSS safety-related part), not the day, but I don't know if that's factual information or not. However, we find the same single character in that position on almost all '69 Camaro seat belts also, and I doubt if the Camaro seat belt supplier made a week's worth of belts (6,000 sets) during one day each week.- Top

Re: C2 - Seat Belt Dates - Update
I withdraw my comparison to the Camaro belt dating - had the two confused in (what's left of) my mind. The Camaro belt supplier was Irvin (not Hamill), and their date code format was different than Hamill. The Irvin format was day/month/year, like 4A69 for January 4, 1969. CRS? Who's got CRS...- Top
