I need to replace/repair the heater core in my 66. The one currently in the car is original, and I will most likely have it re cored. If the hc cannot be recored and needs replaced can I use a parts store replacement or is there another route to take? From recent posts I know a few members have replaced a hc recently. Can you email me a list of the other parts I need to order to complete the job in one shot. (if possible).
Thanks
Frank
The original heater core in my '63 coupe was beyond repair and unavailable from the parts store. The radiator repair shop transferred the inlet/outlet pipes and the core end covers from the leaking unit to new core material. Now you can not tell that there was a problem. Still looks like the original.
Frank, one of the recent posts was mine and I recently finished the replacement on my '66. All I needed was the heater core and and a seal kit, which can be bought from any number of vendors. If you need the step-by-step instructions, send me your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.
